In the late 1990s and early 2000s, when the term “profiling” is barely known and the concept of “psychopaths” remains unfamiliar to most, Ha-Young becomes part of an emerging justice team of criminal mind-readers, tasked with delving into the twisted minds of serial killers to prevent further atrocities. But profiling is controversial and widely misunderstood, and Ha-Young isn’t simply fighting to catch killers; he’s battling a system that questions the value of understanding criminal psychology in the first place. As a series of brutal murders spreads fear throughout society, Ha-Young ventures deeper into the disturbed psyches of these eerily human villains, confronting not only their darkness but also his own. The more he understands the killers, the more difficult it becomes to maintain the distance between hunter and hunted.
